I've know Peter for many years & when the phone call came I was sad but relieved that his suffering was over.
Peter's physical presence has left but his spirit will be around every time there is a speedway meeting or every time we talk speedway, it was a love we shared & even when we didn't see eye to eye on topics we always parted with a smile on our faces.
I'm a member of the TPCR Crash Crew & every meeting Peter would come say Hi & also at the end of the night he would come chat to us before leaving, Peter will be missed by us all.

Peter i just got a call tonight from your sister Jeanette telling me that you have passed away.At first i didn't want to believe what i was hearing but i had heard you was sick for quite some time.I'm located in melbourne now and as your sister said she had problems trying to find my number.I will be forever grateful to her for contacting me.Peter it is good to know that you are no longer suffering and you are at peace within yourself now.My condolences to all your family.I have no racing on this weekend so i will definately get a site up and running for you.I will try to attend your service on monday if i can get out of work.

What can i say  / Jeanette Bell (sister)
Peter there are so many questions left unanswered.There are things i would have liked to have known but never will.I'm still trying to work out a reason why this had to be you.It just seems so unfair and feels like a dream.Peter i know i didn't see you in the end but my thoughts were always with you and i understand that i have to live with that for the rest of my life.I called the hospital almost every day and if you was asleep i wouldn't let them wake you up because you needed as much rest as you could get.When i wasn't calling the hospital i would be calling Sharon to see how you was going.Many times it just happened that sharon was with you and she was able to pass the mobile to you so i could have a chat.Although near the end of your journey you started to forget people and the first one that you forgot was me.I understood that was because of your condition.Peter it is going to be very hard on monday afternoon when we have to say goodbye to you but at least your not suffering anymore.Peter you have always wanted to be home with mum and dad and you have finally gone to them.I bet when you got there mum and dad and all those that have gone before you  were waiting there with open arms.Please give mum and dad a hug for us and please remember we will all meet up again eventually.I bet your up there talking to George and other speedway people that have gone before you about the good days.Miss you heaps already Peter and it has only been a day so far.You will always be in my heart and thankyou for being so brave.Your family along with your friends are very proud of you.Love you heaps Peter Close

Problem Child  / Lyn Gordon (friend)

Peter has been a part of my family for many years. He will be sadly missed by us all. The phone calls ,taking him home after the  races and seeing him through the good and bad times over the years. The highlight was when he had his 25th birthday at McDonalds. What a great time  we had. He was so proud of organising this function and hired a car to take his Gran in style. What more can you say.
The speedway and all his friends will never forget him. He is always in our heart.
